Bonsall is small--if you blink while driving on the 76, you'll miss it--and there are only two restaurants I really ever consider here... Tekila is one of them. (Z Cafe is the other, and they're in the same shopping center. Did I mention how small Bonsall is?) Tekila took over the space Z Cafe used to occupy, and I must say it was a welcome addition. Tekila's "monster burritos" are truly enormous, and their entrees delicious. They offer many traditional dishes with all the meat options and sides of rice and beans, but good luck finishing your entree, because the chips and salsa they bring out first are so delish you'll have trouble stopping before you're full! I especially love that they offer both corn *and* flour chips with their awesome salsa. And anyone that uses Oaxaca cheese is high up on my list of favorite places! They have a small (but full! Woohoo! Cocktails!) bar with a tv if you're flying solo (when dine-in is allowed--#thanksCovid! Meh!), and a surprising number of tables for a local, family-run restaurant. There are two patios (dog friendly!) and several tables inside under the colorful decor. I've been served by Manny (the owner) himself, and he is the nicest, friendliest guy you'll ever want to meet--always eager to please, he and his super-friendly staff do their best to accommodate special diets while keeping it real. I've heard his chef has collaborated with his mom on the recipes, too, so you really can't beat Tekila for Mexican authenticity! Open 7 days a week from 12-8pm (Covid hours may vary), this is a local spot well worth the trip. Look for the Mariachi burro at the front door, and be sure to ask for Manny's Birthday Tacos on September 10!
After a long day of shopping and running errands with my wife we decided to stop and have some Mexican food Tekila Cocina it's some of the best Mexican food we have had in some time excellent flavor excellent taste large portions. With that being said the food only gets better when you have excellent service and our service was excellent!! Our waitress ELLE is 100% on top of her game, we never ran out of chips, salsa, drinks or napkins on top of any additions we may have requested. I would recommend anyone who enjoys great food great atmosphere great service to come on down!! Now to top this off.... The owner JEN is on site extremely helpful and nice and she only expects the best out of this restaurant and her employees, KUDOS to JEN !!
Another great meal at Tekilia's. This time, I went for lunch, before I went grocery shopping at Daniel's Apple Market. (They have Harris Ranch Beef). Anyway. I had a House Margarita (unremarkable)and a three item combo. The combo featured a beef burrito, a cheese enchilada, and chili relleno, rice and beans. The food was great and my only criticism would be that the Salsa was a little mild for my taste. Had a great lunch and was not hungry while grocery shopping. Keep up the good work Tekilias still 5 etars
We went here from an impromptu, early dinner. The place was not busy. Staff, as always are really nice. The food was awesome ( I had a veggie enchilada, and husband had fish tacos) and I have to stay this restaurant really knows how to serve their food hot, unlike many other that serve food barely warm- I really appreciate this. This place is real gem in Bonsall. If you are traveling the 76, stop in and have a bite.
Please tell me Tekila is not closing. There is not a Mexican restaurant in San Diego as good or even nearly as good as Tekila. It's a one hour drive to Fallbrook & worth every bit of the time to get there. Does anyone know how to make the flour tortilla chips? Help, please. I never ate tortilla chips until I tried those. LHM. How can I get some? Does anyone have a recipe. PS El Agave in Old Town is a wonderful upscale (aka expensive) restaurant. Not the same as Tekila.
